The
Real-Time Tracker is a real-time tracking
system for the Missile Defense Agency’s National
Hover Test Facility where rocket propelled kill vehicles
are tested in free flight.
The tracker is a custom, twelve CPU image processing system.
Data from three cameras is analyzed in real-time to precisely
determine the position of the kill vehicle in flight.
Sub-pixel tracking techniques combined with discrimination
algorithms, used to reject rocket plumes, enable the tracker
system to measure vehicle position during flight with
millimeter resolution.
